EventEQ was commissioned by the University of Maryland in May 2022 to dazzle the grand opening of their E.A. Fernandez IDEA Factory (Innovate Design and Engineer for America). The mission? To equip the event with top-tier audio, video, lighting, and scenic production services.

Unveiling a new building isn’t inherently an exciting event from an audio-visual provider’s perspective. Traditionally the stakeholders cut a big ribbon with a pair of oversized scissors, and those in attendance deliver the expected round of applause, sip their iced tea, nibble on the finger food, and disband. The University of Maryland wasn’t interested in introducing The Idea Factory to the world with a method that’s become trite at best. That would have been hypocritical. They wanted the moment to mark innovation and excitement.
