Each fall, the National FFA Organization, formerly the Future Farmers of America, gathers over 70,000 attendees in Indianapolis, IN, for its annual convention and expo. EventEQ has been a proud partner in this event, managing production across key venues, including Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center. This year marked a new level of accomplishment, with notable upgrades and efficiencies that distinguished it from previous conventions.
In 2023, EventEQ introduced its services with a focus on building rapport and adjusting to the FFA’s established workflow, while bringing modernized technology to the event. Now in 2024, the team further elevated the experience, implementing new gear and improving logistics across a larger scale. A significant transition from last year included moving from the Resolume media server to the disguise platform, which provided a more robust and flexible media management solution. The team also upgraded from the Meyer audio rig to the L-Acoustics K2 system, incorporating over 100 L-Acoustics speakers to ensure optimal sound coverage in Lucas Oil Stadium. Additionally, EventEQ introduced a shift from the E2 broadcast switcher to a Spyder switcher, enhancing image quality and streamlining control across display setups.
One of the biggest distinctions this year was the improved setup timeline. Despite the challenge of a tight schedule—with the Indianapolis Colts playing in Lucas Oil Stadium just prior and Taylor Swift’s stage needing to be loaded in afterward—EventEQ handled the load-in process with notable efficiency. The team gained access to the venue at midnight on Monday and successfully completed the setup by Wednesday’s first show. By coordinating a phased approach where rigging teams began their work at midnight, followed by lighting and LED teams at 8:00 AM, the process ran ahead of schedule. Compared to last year, where the crew was navigating these logistics for the first time, 2024’s setup ran smoother, with experienced team members leveraging lessons learned to save valuable time at every stage.
Another area of distinction this year was the Student Speaker Showcase in Hall K, where EventEQ applied a new diagonal layout that increased traffic flow and visibility. This adjustment was part of EventEQ’s ongoing effort to enhance audience experience through thoughtful design and responsive staging, reinforcing their role as more than just an AV provider, but a collaborative partner with FFA.
According to Mandy Hazlett, Associate Director of Convention & Events, “The team at EventEQ is among the best in the business. They listen intently to understand our goals and work hard to bring them to life. Their openness, honesty, and occasional ability to work magic are truly appreciated. I’m delighted to have them as part of our team, helping to make our annual convention an unforgettable experience for our attendees.”
EventEQ’s relationship with the National FFA Organization has grown with each year, setting new standards in production and partnership. This year’s successes underscore that while AV technology is key, it’s the expertise and dedication of EventEQ’s team that make the difference.
